The crib is here, the mattress came and we picked up the dresser/changing table on Friday. So far, everything is assembled and ready but the finishing touches need to be put in place. Our biggest challenge was figuring out how to arrange the furniture, especially the large chair we got from Joe's mom. It is sort of a greige leather and it's shaped like a rounded square. It is large enough to snuggle into or sit cross-legged in.
As for decorative items, we are hanging six different-colored lighted paper lanterns from black grosgrain ribbon, from the ceiling in the corner above baby girl's crib (which is sort of offset from the corner). I am also making tissue paper pom poms in white and multi-colored to hang in some other "blank" spaces in the room. I'm sure there will need to be some other finishing touches too but I'm not sure what those will be yet. Once everything else is done, we'll see what is needed to make it more warm and inviting.
So here are a few preview pics. Definitely not a finished product but still almost done. This first one is Joe doing some finishing touches on the dresser before it's done... those blinds need a good scrub, too. The previous tennants left red nail polish on them.
This is on the wall to the right of the window...
This one is the view from the bedroom door. To the immediate right is the chair I mentioned before and to the right of that, at an angle in the corner is the crib. To the left of the door is a blank wall and the closet.
More photos of this room to come soon. As for now, there is a mini crib in front of the closet (that we purchased for $25.00 at a yard sale four houses down the street-a GREAT buy and it'll be SO convenient for travel or days spent at grandparent's houses). The inside of the drawers are set up with organizers and we've begun putting things in there and deciding how to best store things for diaper changes, etc. The changing pad will go on top of the dresser to the right of the lamp.
The baby shower is next Sunday and we can't wait to see everyone and celebrate!
